Bishop Pass is one of the easier ways into the high Sierras from the east. Dan and I had come this way one other time, in October. I'd had a cold. Below Bishop pass we got hit by snow so we decided to stay put. Meanwhile I came up with pulmonary edema and couldn't sleep lying down. Unfortunately, I had a tiny little tent and had to put on all my clothes and then try to sleep leaning against a boulder, for two nights. Third morning the weather looked better but I was worse so we descended. By 8000 ft. I felt pretty good. Was checked out by a doc in Bishop and he said to not go back up for a while
This trip we went over Bishop Pass and then left the trail to the south soon after. We camped below Isosceles Peak and day hiked around the area including over to Knapsack Pass. We had a very good trip.
