Oregon Dunes - southern Oregon coast
This area of dunes is south of Reedsport in a swath that doesn't allow any motorized vehicles. It's a fairly large area, especially since there's a lot of up and down and you're slogging through sand. I'll mention the exact location later.
You can hike and even backpack on these dunes. There are freshwater lakes most of the year, formed by the water table being high enough to form lakes in the low areas. There are all kinds of animals out there. It's a wonderful place to just go and roam.
These photos came from 4 different visits with three different cameras. Some are fairly fuzzy. Sorry.

These dunes can be visited overnight by staying at the North Eel campground, south of Reedport and just past Tugman State park. You can slip into Tugman for a hot shower. The easiest way to get up onto the dunes is off the little lane between the two loops at Eel Creek. Be aware of where you entered the dunes and where you are on the dunes. It's surprisingly easy to become disoriented.
