Lookout Mountain is probably the easiest hike for the greatest reward that I know of near Portland. The peak is around 6500', so it's at or above timberline, and is the site of a former fire tower. The foundation is still there. The views are 360 degrees. If you carry water, or can find the nearby spring, you can camp on top. As there are more than one Lookout Mountains, this one is off forest road 4410 east of Mt. Hood. I will mix in photos from various trips here starting with an overnighter with Bob.
